How can I stream my classes or workshops?

Modificato il Mer, 31 Gen alle 5:49 PM

In the following, we would like to show you how you can stream your lessons or a workshop that you conduct in doozzoo free of charge and without much effort via other platforms such as YouTube or Twitch and thus make it accessible to viewers.

Note: These instructions show the process under MacOS, some names may be different but similar on other operating systems.

Preparation

  1. Download the free OBS software: https://obsproject.com/
  2. Install OBS on your computer.
  3. Open Google Chrome and log in to your doozzoo account.

Video stream - show doozzoo interface

  1. Open OBS.
  2. Click on the + symbol at the bottom of the "Sources" area.
  3. Select "MacOS screen recording" from the list.
  4. Enter a unique name, e.g. "doozzoo" and click on "OK".
  5. In the window that now appears, select "Window Capture" as the method and the open Google Chrome window with doozzoo as the window.
You may need to select the "Show full screen and hidden windows/applications" option if the Chrome window is not available in the selection.

Select "Show mouse pointer" if you want the movement and position of your mouse pointer to be visible on the subsequent screen.

  6. Click "OK".
  7. You will now see a real-time display of the doozzoo interface in the preview area in OBS. You can adjust the size and position of the window. Play a little with this adjustment and the size of the actual window to achieve the desired result. What you see in the preview area of OBS will also be what your viewers see in the stream.

Audio stream - make doozzoo and your own microphone audible.

In order for your viewers to not only see but also hear something, we need to make a few more settings.

An audio track with the same name (in this example, "doozzoo") is automatically added to the audio mixer section when the Google Chrome window is inserted in the sources. All audio that you hear from doozzoo - for example, the apps and the participants in your room - is streamed via this track. Now you need to add your own microphone signal, as this is not covered by the "doozzoo" track.

  1. Click on the three dots to the right of the lower volume control.
  2. Click on "Properties" in the menu.
  3. Select the device that you also use as an audio input in doozzoo, for example your built-in microphone or an interface, and click on "OK".

Set up stream on YouTube

  1. Go to YouTube.com and log in.
  2. Click on the camera symbol at the top right and then on "Start livestream".
  3. Click on "Settings" on the right in OBS.
  4. Click on "Stream". Select "Custom..." as the service and enter the server and the stream key.
You can find the necessary information for this on YouTube under "Stream settings" -> "Stream key". (Stream key and stream URL)
  5. As soon as you are ready and want to start streaming, click on "Start Streaming" in OBS.

Attention!!! This will start your stream and, depending on your YouTube settings, you will potentially be visible and audible to everyone on YouTube. So only start your stream if you have made all the settings - for example for visibility - on YouTube according to your wishes and know for sure what is currently being broadcast via OBS.

Set up stream on Twitch

  1. Go to twitch.tv and log in.
  2. Click on your profile picture at the top right and go to the Creator Dashboard.
  3. Open the "Settings" section in the menu on the left and go to "Stream".
  4. At the top of this page you will find your Stream key. Copy it.
  5. Click on "Settings" on the right in OBS.
  6. Click on "Stream". Select "Twitch" as the service, paste the stream key you just copied and click "Okay".
  7. As soon as you are ready and want to start streaming, click on "Start Streaming" in OBS.

Attention!!! This will start your stream and, depending on the settings in Twitch, you will potentially be visible and audible to everyone on Twitch. So only start your stream if you have made all the settings on Twitch according to your wishes and know for sure what is currently being broadcast via OBS.
